Ada's 6 month update

I took Ada to the Dr today for her 6 month well baby check and shots. She weighed 19lbs and 12 ounces so she was still in the 95th percentile for weight. I don't remember exactly what her height was, but it was in the 75th percentile. She took her shots pretty well again and everything checked out fine on exam.

We got her pictures done at JCP in Lincoln this weekend and they turned out great. Here are a couple for your viewing pleasure...

Poor Ada

Ada felt left out so I wanted to blog about her too. She woke up Tuesday morning with a fever of 100.8 so she stayed home. The doctor said she had pink eye and possibly a sinus infection...but I'm betting she has whatever virus Ivy had last week. If that's the case, I'm expecting her to be sick for at least another 5 days. She's on an antibiotic for the sinus infection and I have a really hard time getting her to swallow it since her favorite thing to do is spit and blow bubbles now. I can't believe how relatively content Ada is, since she just looks miserable. Side note: Ada weighed 18lbs 11oz at the doctor Tuesday!

I'm frustrated because we've been missing so much work lately, and I wonder why they couldn't have just been sick together to get it over with. Also they were both supposed to start a new daycare together on Tuesday. Ivy has been going and is loving every minute of it. But she's been asking where Ada is when we leave for the day, Ivy misses Ada when they're apart, it's pretty sweet. Here's a picture of Ivy at the new daycare and a recent one of Ada for your viewing pleasure...

Easter in Dodge

We spent this Easter in Fort Dodge with my mom's side of the family. My cousin Laurie's bridal shower was Saturday afternoon and then we had Easter dinner on Saturday night. We finally got the 3 newest cousins together for a photo op. My cousin Alecia had Lauren on September 28th, Ada was born on November 4th and my sister Dawn had Elise on December 29th. I'm sure they will grow up to be the best of friends. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Poor Ivy

I took Ivy to the doctor on Tuesday because she had a fever and had been cranky for a few days. At first I was going to chalk the crankiness up to her two new molars coming in, but the doctor said she had a sore throat and of course an ear infection. So we started her on Omnicef for the ear infection and I thought she was acting a little happier yesterday. But last night she woke up at midnight with a temperature of 104 degrees! We were frantic of course, but when I called her doctor he didn't seem concerned with it being that high. I just thought the antibiotic would've started to make her feel better by now.
I rocked with her for a couple hours and her temp finally went down enough so that she could sleep. I felt horrible because I can't imagine how uncomfortable she must've been. Our hot tub is usually set between 100-102 degrees and if it gets much higher than that, I cannot set foot in it. I just kept thinking about that last night...poor thing...

Ada is 5 Months Old

Ada is 5 months old today and she's as cute as ever! I took her to the doctor on Thursday because I had a suspicion that she has acid reflux. The doctor agreed and prescribed some Prilosec liquid to see if that helps her belly. The first day she took it and didn't seem to be too bothered by the taste. But the second day I tried it, she gagged until she vomited. I don't blame her though, I tried a little bit myself and it tastes absolutely terrible. I mixed it with milk, but that didn't help, so this morning I mixed it with some apple juice and I got her to at least keep it down.

Ada's becoming more aware of things around her now. She's grabbing toys and gumming her hands all the time. She rolls over from her back to her front like a champ. She's such a sweet baby, and is so fun to be around.

Princess Ivy

Wow, it looks like it's been a whole month since my last blog, and I'm sure everyone out there is on the edge of their seats waiting to hear from me :) haha.

Grandpa and grandma Margie came to visit today and they brought Ivy one of the best gifts...a princess dress up box. Ivy loves to play dress up with her friend Addison so my mom went and got the same box of stuff that Addison has. It has like 6 dresses, high heeled shoes, earrings, butterfly wings, tiaras, etc...and Ivy is loving every minute of it. I'll be sure to post some pictures soon...

Ada is 4 Months Old

Just a little update about Ada since she turned 4 months old on the 4th. She started rolling over at grandma Margie's on Sunday and hasn't slowed down since. She can roll on her left and right side from back to front. She hasn't started trying to get back to her back yet, but I'm sure that will come soon enough.

Eric and I took both girls to the doctor today, Ivy needed a recheck on her ear infection and Ada needed her 4 month shots and well-baby check. Ada weighed 16 lbs 5oz and was 25". She didn't really cry too much during her shots this time, so that was easier to handle. Toodles...

"I Opened the Doie"

So Ivy is 28 months old today and she has a new trick up her sleeve...she can open doors (or "doies" as she calls them)! She doesn't know how to twist it like you're supposed to yet, so she just wraps her hand around the handle sideways and pulls it until it opens...pretty smart little chickie. Now, guess how quickly I put a childproof lock on her bedroom doorknob. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that she's learning new tricks and becoming more independent. But I think naptime is great too. If she knew she could get out of her room, I don't think naptime would exist anymore...not to mention bedtime.

Another exciting thing for Ivy is that she's been using her potty more. We went through a lull where she wouldn't have anything to do with it. Or she'd sit there for a half hour, not go, then go when you put her pull-up back on. She has the best luck when she goes in there all by herself and makes us "stay right there"...can't blame her for not wanting an audience.

Wisecrack

So I just have to blog about a call I got at work today because I haven't been able to stop laughing about it. Someone transferred this call to me, so I assumed it was because they specifically needed my help. He said "hi this is Greg, I just need you to double-check the model number on your copier". I almost got up because we're actually having our copier replaced next week. Just then, I remembered that I got a call like this when I worked at Charter. Back then I fell for it; got up, walked all the way over to the copier, checked the model number and reported back to him only to find out that he just wanted to sell me something for it. So this time would be different, "Greg" I said, "Where are you calling from?" I could sense the disappointment in his voice, realizing that I was on to him, "the hole in your butt crack" he says. "What was that?" I replied. He tried to mumble, but I still understood him, "your butt crack".  "My butt crack?", I said. "Yeah", he replied. "Nice try Greg" I said with a smile, and hung up on him. I had such sympathy for him though, as I can only imagine how much I would hate cold calling businesses trying to sell them a great deal on toner. Plus, that's about the funniest thing I've heard in a decade, so he scores points there too. Cheers Greg...

Ear infections are back...

Well I foolishly though that since Ivy hadn't had an ear infection since last January that maybe she'd be done with that stuff. I took her to the doctor yesterday because she woke up from her nap crying, saying 'owwie'. She has been a little cranky lately, and I attributed that to a new molar coming in and/or the cough and cold she's had for a week. The doctor said her right ear was infected and the left had some fluid. I was fully expecting to be up all night with her, since I remember keeping my mom up when I had ear infections. She slept all night and didn't make a peep. Hopefully these antibiotics will make her feel better soon so she's back to her old self.
